The Role

As a Nursery Practitioner, you will support children across the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). You will help provide a safe, stimulating, and engaging environment where every child can flourish and feel valued. Your role will include planning and leading age-appropriate activities, observing and assessing children’s progress, and working collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and carers to nurture every child’s growth.

 

Responsibilities

  • Support the learning and development of young children, adapting your approach to individual needs.
  • Plan, deliver, and encourage participation in engaging, age-appropriate activities.
  • Maintain a safe, positive, and inclusive environment for all children.
  • Observe and track children’s developmental progress and share observations with the nursery team.
  • Promote children’s wellbeing, independence, curiosity, and confidence through everyday interactions and quality play experiences.
  • Work closely and effectively with fellow practitioners, parents, and carers to ensure a consistent and collaborative approach.

 

Skills and Experience

  • Relevant Level 2 or Level 3 Early Years/EYFS qualification (or equivalent) is essential.
  • Experience working in nursery or early years settings.
  • Paediatric First Aid qualification is desirable.
  • Understanding of safeguarding, child protection, and the importance of the EYFS framework.
  • Enhanced Child DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
  • Genuine passion for supporting and inspiring young children’s learning journeys.

 

Location and Package

  • Based in Wolverhampton, serving a variety of nursery settings across the area.
  • Contract role starting on 1 September 2026.
  • Competitive pay rate: £14.24 per hour.
